Frequently Asked Questions

When can I switch out my jewelry?

I pierce all of my clients with flatback, push-pin style jewelry. With this jewelry type you can technically change the pin at any time. I do not suggest doing this on your own if you have never worn this style of jewelry before as you do not want to remove the labret (the backing) during this process. Beyond that do not completely remove or switch to a different earring post for the full amount of healing.

When can I switch to a hoop?

It is advised to wait until the piercing is beyond fully healed to switch to a hoop. Hoops can invite infection to a healing piercing as it is constantly circulating.

What should I be using to clean my piercing?

My favorite cleaning solution is Neilmed Saline Solution. Spray the solution directly onto the piercing and use a q-tip to wipe around your jewelry.

When should I downsize my piercing?

You want to make sure that you downsize your piercing around 4-6 weeks. If you notice that you are still swollen around 4-6 weeks please book a check-up appointment. A downsize appt is when we take out the old bar and downsize it to a post that sits more flush during healing so it doesn't get caught on things like your mask, hair, shirts, etc.

How to avoid a piercing/irritation bump?

Do not touch, twist, or play with your piercing. Sleeping on your new piercing is the quickest way to cause swelling.

Are you appointment only?

I accept walk-ins at my pop-ups, but it is always best to book an appointment if you are in a time crunch.
